Cactus Gritty Mix is the perfect choice for a wide variety of cacti and other hardy, dry-weather plants. Gritty mixes dry in a fraction of the time compared with big name cactus soils.

Calcined Clay maintains consistent moisture in the adjacent soil to keep it from getting soggy or bone dry.

Pumice (also known as volcanic rock) has a porous composition which allows it to retain moisture and facilitate the intake of moisture and nutrients by plants.

Granite improves drainage and aeration, making it beneficial for plants, especially those that prefer well-drained conditions.

LECA Balls , short for Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate, supports water availability between watering by retaining moisture while also providing excellent drainage of excess water.

Coconut Husks helps to promote the growth of lignins, which increases the amount of beneficial bacteria around your plant's root system.

Forest Products enriches the soil with organic matter, improving soil structure, water retention, and overall fertility.

Cactus Gritty Mix is the mix that started it all! This puts a more eco-friendly spin on the traditional gritty cactus soil by utilizing coconut chips and coir, an otherwise wasted byproduct of the coconut industry. As a soil component, the ground husks offer excellent aeration and moisture retention properties while still providing a fast-draining medium. Great for any desert dwelling plant, including many species of Euphorbia.

Our Potting Mixes are engineered to be more forgiving of a wide range of plant care styles--whether you're a beginner or have cultivated houseplant collection. Our lineup of potting substrates allow a more consistent flow of oxygen to the root system, leading to less stress and more growth over time. Regardless of the type of plant you have, we have a mix designed for their natural preferences.

Normal potting mix requires repotting every 12-18 months. Our Sol Soils Potting Mixes don’t break down or get hydrophobic in the same manner, and allow for 24-36 months before needing a refresh. However, if you notice growth not starting again for a growing season, it may indicate the roots have grown a lot and it wants a larger pot because it’s root-bound! A sign of healthy growth!

We still hand mix, fill, and seal every bag in small batches. While we feel this is the best method to make sure the quality stays as high as possible, it does mean there's variation in every bag. Some bags are chunkier and some are finer within every batch. Rest assured, they'll perform as expected even with this variation!
