Experience the Joy of Gardening

Why Sustainable Seed Company?

Pencil Cob Corn is a delightful and sugary summer classic, producing huge yields of 8" ears of bright yellow kernels, ideal for summertime cookouts and games. Corn is a tolerant full-sun favorite to grow on the side of the house, out in the field, or even in a planter. Pencil Cob seeds boast 7' tall stalks, maturing at 80-90 days, making this one of the latest varieties of corn of the season.

Share the tradition and responsibility of sustainable gardening with future generations. We believe gardening is more than just nurturing plants, but it is about nurturing ourselves, family, and community.

John Fendley (“Farmer John”) founded Sustainable Seed Company in 2008 due to his concern that many varieties of fruits and vegetables he remembered from childhood were no longer propagated. John followed his dream and set out to protect and share rare heirloom seeds with the world and, ever since, has been a prominent distributor of exclusive, unique varieties of seeds including fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
